Post-Christmas meal and AGM
Thursday 7th January 7:30pm, at The Pickled Plum, Pershore. This is a seasonal opportunity to get together with other Pershore artists to enjoy a delightful evening of good company and good food in a relaxed setting. Pershore Arts will subsidise any meal you order to the tune of £ 5.00 (members only). We will discuss exhibiting opportunities, the possibility of a new “sketchbook group” and other interesting proposals. We want YOUR ideas too!
Please book your place NOW. The AGM is an important opportunity to discuss matters relating to our future. Will we keep it as brief and informal as possible in order to concentrate on the ‘social’ side of the evening.
Your task for January is to find and bring along unusual and entertaining photos on the theme of “Signs’.
Meeting on Thursday 21st in the Upstairs Bar at Number 8 at 7.30pm
Our exhibition at Evesham Art Centre closed on January 4th. Audiences for events in the auditorium were treated to a varied selection of our paintings, photos and prints. Its success was confirmed by several purchases. We hope to do something similar later in 2016.
In May, our WW1 Exhibition moves to The Showell Gallery, Pershore Civic Centre, for three months' duration. May also sees our Annual Exhibition at Number 8, featuring paintings, prints and photographs.
The Plum Fayre Exhibition at the Abbey will take place again on Bank Holiday Monday, 29th August. Let’s hope the weather is kind this year!
In October, we will once again exhibit work in Pershore Library - the theme is yet to be decided but will probably be along ‘local’ lines.
Number 8 has two “Exhibition on Screen” events, beginning with “Renoir - The Unknown Artist” on Tuesday 23rd February. Based on the collection of 181 Renoirs at the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia, the film examines Pierre-Auguste Renoir's move away from the impressionist style.
NEW SKETCHBOOK GROUP
This is an exciting new development to provide more contact and inspiration for all members who like to pick up a pen, pencil or paintbrush and sketch - from life or imagination. In the summer months we hope to go out locally to add sketches to our books.
There are no final plans yet so come to the first meeting on Wednesday 20 April at 7.30 in Wulstan Hall, Priest Lane, Pershore (next to the Catholic Church and with its own small car park). You will not be committing yourself to anything and you can help set something up which would be enjoyable for you.

On Tuesday May 3rd our artwork for the World War 1 Exhibition, previously shown at Number 8 last year, will be on show again, this time in The Showell Gallery, Pershore Civic Centre, until July 23rd. Exhibitors will be contacted regarding time and date of installation.
The first meeting on Wednesday 20 April in Wulstan Hall was a success, with a turnout of 11 interested members, including two people who are new to Pershore Arts. Our aim is to provide more contact and inspiration for all members who like to pick up a pen, pencil or paintbrush and sketch - indoors or out.
With the summer months ahead of us, we hope to convene outdoors to sketch and it was suggested that we might sketch in places such as the Abbey too. The optional topic for sketches to bring to the next meeting is “May”, in whatever interpretation you like. Details of time and place for the next meeting will be posted as soon as possible - check your emails and the website.

Exhibition at Number 8
Pershore Arts Annual 2D Exhibition - for paintings, prints, photographs etc will open on Thursday May 5th and runs until Wednesday 25th May. If you are planning to exhibit work, please contact us with details:, number of pieces (up to 4), title, size, medium, price and your name. Please bring your work to Number 8, complete with mirror plates for fixing to the walls, between 7 and 9pm on Wednesday May 4th. We are hoping to arrange a Private View for the evening of Friday 6th May, but this has yet to be confirmed.
THE WALLED GARDEN
Following discussions with the owner, Chris Cronin, it has been agreed that Pershore Arts' members will visit the Walled Garden at Croome to draw, paint and take photographs of this unique space. The plan is for the resulting artwork to fill our annual exhibition at Number 8, and some of the exhibits may later be displayed in the new visitor centre in the Garden. The Garden is open until the end of October; major earthworks will be undertaken during the winter, so we will advise members when it may be safe and appropriate to visit. Please contact us if you have any queries.
PERSHORE ARTS EXHIBITIONS
Once again, we have a wonderful opportunity to show our work at Evesham Arts Centre in the lead up to Christmas. Last year’s exhibition was very successful, with a number of works sold. If you would like to exhibit any work, please contact us with details: number of pieces (up to 4), title, size, medium, price and your name. You will need to bring your work to Evesham Arts Centre, complete with mirror plates for fixing to the walls - date and time to be confirmed.
This continues to gain new members. In September, a small group met at Pershore Bridges to sketch and paint. Following interest by Sketchbookers, we plan to run a Saturday printmaking session for Pershore Arts members in the New Year. This will be led by the very knowledgeable Andrew Judd, assisted by members of St. Peter’s Printmakers, at St. Peter's Church in Malvern. It should be a good opportunity to find out more about the possibilities of a n exciting medium and to try it for yourself, so look out for more details. Members with cars have already offered to share transport with any others who need help getting to the venue.
