Exhibiting

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Frans Swarte. Frans took over as Chairman of Pershore Arts when our previous Chairman, Jane Hordern resigned. He was enthusiastic and creative, always on the lookout for opportunities for Pershore Arts to exhibit, explore and be involved in the local community. To learn more about Frans' own work, please see his obituary in our recent Newsletter. His irreverence, charm and sense of humour will be much missed by us all, and we are grateful for all he achieved on our behalf.

Pershore Arts Photography Meetings

Members who enjoy photography are welcome to come along and share their work on the month’s theme or any other work. Meetings are relaxed and friendly and there is always something to be learnt from the way other people use their cameras.

Exhibitions

We currently have work on show at The Vale Golf and Country Club, and at Evesham Arts Centre. Opportunities and ideas for 2020 will be put forward at our AGM and Social on Wednesday 5th February at 7pm at the Royal Oak, Kinnersley.

Coronavirus

With all gatherings prohibited, Pershore Arts' meetings, outings and exhibitions have all been cancelled until further notice. This includes our Annual Exhibition at Number 8 Community Arts Centre, which would have taken place at the end of April. We hope to pick up our programme of events later in the year. We are planning to revamp our website Gallery so that it becomes an online exhibition of our work. We hope you will enjoy the show. In the meantime, we hope you are able to enjoy taking photographs, painting, drawing and being creative, whilst following Government guidelines to keep yourself and others safe and well.

Grayson Perry's Art Club

Grayson Perry in his studio

Grayson Perry has a new TV project, which promises to be a tonic for artists and art groups. I look forward to inviting the nation into my studio for Grayson’s Art Club, Perry said in a statement. I hope we can make something uplifting in response to the crisis. I will be showing you the progress of the works I am making in these strange days, but I am most excited about seeing what artistic creations people all over the country have been up to in lockdown and talking to other artists about how they are dealing with the weirdness.

The show was due to be screened at 8pm on Thursday 16 April, but Grayson has been ill (not with Covid-19) so the first episode of his Art Club has been postponed until 8pm Monday 27th April. The theme for Week 1 is Portraits, while Animals is the art subject for Week 2. Entries can be uploaded here.
