The Gallery
A new venture, opening in June 2021, The Gallery is run by husband and wife team Chris and Jilly Oxlade-Arnott. Jilly is well known for her unique fine line ink and watercolour depictions of historical and significant architecture. Each month the Gallery presents a number of evening events from 6pm to 8.30pm. These include Meet-the-Artist, private/solo exhibitions and its own Arts Awareness Programme.
On December 3rd, Jilly and Chris kindly hosted an Open Evening, showing some of Pershore Arts’ work and welcome those interested in what we do. The evening was convivial and well-attended, and we were able to welcome several new members to Pershore Arts, including some who are new to the area and some recent retirees who now have time to explore and develop their creative instincts.
Chris and Jilly select guest artists who best represent the Gallery’s ethos of Colour, Craftmanship and Creativity, and ensure artists get a realistic and fair price for their work, which also provides great value to buyers. Do pop in – The Gallery is open from Wednesday to Saturday, 10am – 6pm, and on Sunday from 10am – 4pm. You might just find the elusive ‘perfect gift’ for a loved one!
Number 8
In November, Pershore Arts members made a welcome return to the walls of the Foyer at Number 8 Community Arts Centre. During Lockdown, some had made brave ‘new beginnings’, using the time to experiment with new themes, new materials, and new techniques. Others, who struggled to be productive in those alarming months, made a new start as life began to return to normal.
The exhibition ran from Thursday 4th November until Wednesday 24thNovember 2021. Visitors obviously enjoyed our work, and we were rewarded with record sales of 7 artworks. The Foyer has been booked for our show next year, in November 2022.
Photography Group
now meets at Number 8 at 7.45pm on the 3rd Thursday of the month. Members with an interest in photography enjoyed a well-attended meeting, their first in over 18 months, on 18th November. Our photo group mentor, Geoff Hodgson, was also pleased to welcome some new members to Pershore Arts. Geoff studied photography to Masters Degree level and exhibits his work extensively in London, Bristol and Birmingham. His photographs are held in private collections across the world, and he has lots of experience and knowledge to share.
We are not charged by Number 8 for the meeting space, so do consider buying a drink at the bar while you are there. You will also be able to enjoy and discuss the current exhibition on the walls of the Foyer. If you can, please bring some prints of your recent work to share and discuss what we enjoy. Anyone wishing to attend needs to become a member of Pershore Arts.
See our Calendar for meeting dates – further details for each meeting may be added from time to time.

Bevere Art Gallery:
Under Pressure: Exhibition of original prints by 11 UK printmakers
In a world where digital reproductive techniques are commonplace the ‘print’ is sometimes regarded as a cheap reproduction of an ‘original’ piece of art. Original Printmaking however is the process of creating by hand multiple versions of an original piece of art created solely for making prints. The print is the original and there will be a number of them that will differ slightly as they are printed individually.

This new film takes a deep look into Hopper’s art, his life, and his relationships. Released to coincide with the major Hopper exhibition (Edward Hopper’s New York) at the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York (Oct 22nd – Mar 23rd).
